Reading development. It’s an important process that explains how students progress as readers. Stages are based on students’ experiences and skills, not their age or grade level.
Who is doing this?
Our beloved Mrs. Mendenhall will be working part time at A Step Ahead this summer, while she also explores working with the Institute of Reading Development.
“I am excited about this, because their focus is on teaching through classic children’s literature,” Martha shared. “Because we are working in the summer, we won’t be restricted to the standard skills in the common core. We can really explore and get children excited about the classic stories.”
When will Mrs. Mendenhall be at A Step Ahead?
Mrs. Mendenhall will be working one day per week at A Step Ahead for the summer tutoring period, and then will be back to her full tutoring schedule with us in the fall. While we will miss her creative guidance and smiling face, we are excited about what she will have the opportunity to learn and share with us. Congratulations, Mrs. Mendenhall!
