New faculty! Meet Dr. D
We give a hearty welcome to new faculty member Chris Dometrius! Chris joined the faculty recently, working primarily with high school students in all areas of mathematics, SAT/ACT test preparation. He also helps college and university students prepare for the GRE examination.
But first, let’s talk about what’s really cool with our new faculty member
Dr. D plays bass guitar and can be seen and heard on YouTube here with the Delta Monks. Dr. D plays bass guitar with numerous groups in the area and likes introducing his students to the many ways in which mathematics and music are connected. He comments that “math teachers can be fun too!”
What are Dr. D’s qualifications?
Dr. Christopher Dometrius, aka “Dr. D.” to most of his students, grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and earned a B.A. in Mathematics and a minor in English in 1994. Dr. D earned his MS and PhD at NC State University, completing his PhD at NC State University in 2003.
Dr. D has taught and tutored all levels of classes and test preparation, from high school Algebra through Calculus III, Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra and more. He has great rapport with his students and always finds common ground with which to bond with his students.
